Journal: What are 5 consequences of imperialism. Are any of them positive? Explain.
Objective: Explain the cultural impacts of imperialism by studying and analyzing the book, Things Fall Apart.
Classwork: Book in a day activity! Prepare and present on "Things Fall Apart" chapter.

Homework: Complete the 6 questions about the book, then write 1/2 of a DBQ. Here are the instructions for writing the DBQ/outline.
1. Write the opening paragraph, including a thesis
2. Write ONE body paragraph about one of your chosen groupings for the DBQ
3. Outline (bullet points are fine!) the rest of the DBQ.

Finish reading Chapter 27.

*Note: I think you are the best students in the whole world! I know I've been asking a lot of you lately, but I can see it paying off! Keep up the great work!

Journal: Why do many consider Obama a socialist? EXPLAIN.
Objective: Explain some of the major changes and migrations that occured in the aftermath of the Industrial Revolution.
Classwork: Turned in Kaplan assignment, then had a numbered heads discussion about economics, then took notes (on own paper) about changes and migrations. (If absent, look up the powerpoint and take notes on your own paper for your notebook check).

Homework: Complete imperialism map.

Enjoy the long weekend!
Journal: Write down 8 inventions or innovations you are MOST grateful for.
Objective: Explain causes and effects of the Industrial Revolution.
Classwork: Finish the Industrial Revolution game (powerpoint on blog if you were absent...you'll need to turn in your completed map), lecture on consequences of the I.R.

Homework: Read chapter 26 (the whole thing), and complete KAPLAN assignment number 1:
Read chapters 1&2, write 10 tips for answering the MC questions, 10 for writing a good DBQ, a good CCOT, and a good C/C essay; answer the 25 M.C. questions (the diagnostic test after chapter 2).

Objective: Review causes of the French revolution and the reign of Napoleon. Describe causes of the Industrial Revolution

Classwork: Collect Europe Map activity (you'll need to see me for a copy of this if you were absent...it's not on the blog), quiz, finish France and Napoleon powerpoint notes (ppt can be found on blog), begin the Industrial Revolution activity.

Journal: Go around the room and find a revolutionary quote you can identify/agree with. Write the quote down then explain how that is connected to one of the revolutions we're learning about in class.
Objective: Compare/contrast major revolutionary movements, describe the French Revolution and its consequences. Explain the stages of a revolution.

Classwork: Finish video notes, quiz on revolutions (this CAN be retaken...it's a big quiz), France lecture notes.

Journal: What are 3 key steps to writing a perfect Comparative Essay. Write a thesis statement for the following: Compare and contrast the American revolution and current revolution in Syria.

Objective: C/C between different revolutions.

Classwork: Presentations and review of worksheet.

Homework: Write a comparative essay using 2 revolutions from your worksheet (excluding your own project and the United States). This is due at the beginning of class next time.

Journal: no time!
Objective: Compare different revolutionary documents and analyze how Enlightenment ideas influenced revolutionary movements.
Classwork: We spent the first half of the class having a Socratic Seminar based on your readings. *IF YOU WERE ABSENT, you need to turn in all of your questions (24 total...actually 6 for each reading), but you also need to write a paragraph answering each of your level 3 questions, and citing documents when possible. This can replace your discussion part of the seminar.

Homework: Make sure your groups are completely ready for next time!

Journal: Which 3 of the Enlightenment thinkers do you think had the greatest impact on our modern world? Why?
Objective: Explain the influence of the Enlightenment thinkers and work on your group presentations!
Classwork: Finish powerpoint notes on Enlightenment thinkers, then work with groups.

2nd period: thanks for being so good and flexible with changes in the schedule!
Because you were working hard on the videos and still didn't quite finish, you will get 20 minutes next time to work on them as a group. This 20 minutes should be used more for fine-tuning, uploading, and editing your video. What is not completed in class will be homework.

HOMEWORK: Read the Socratic Seminar documents (found under this time period's tab), then come up with 5 questions for each reading in order to facilitate our discussion for next time. The questions can be written (and left unanswered) on your own sheet of paper. For each reading (Bolivar's Letter, Dec. of Rights of Man, Dec. of Ind., Montesquieu) you should have:

3 level 1 questions
2 level 2 questions
1 level 3 question

Journal: 1. What is the purpose of the human existence? Explain. 2. What is the purpose of government? Explain. 3. What are two natural rights?
Objective: Explain general trends of the Age of Industrialization (1750-1900) and differentiate between influential Enlightenment reformers.

Classwork: Grade tests (corrections due next time!), then write ABCs of the Age of Industrialization (each bullet point should somehow pertain to an important concept during this era...if you were absent you can do this using your text book and writing short explanations with each letter), then notes on Enlightenment thinkers.

Homework: You met briefly with your assigned groups for your Revolutions Video and Handout, and make sure you come prepared to FILM next class period! Here are the groups:
