Journal: Write down three specific things you will do to study for the test next time! (Hint: Make study groups, split up the CCOT essays and share with a group, re-read text, read the Kaplan book review, quiz yourself using the Unit Packet, make sure you know the SIGNIFICANCE and IMPORTANCE of each term)
Objective: Explain how to write a good CCOT essay and study for the test!
Classwork: Look at former 2005 CCOT essay and grade student samples together. Then play the game, "Chronology," then prepare for test.

Homework: Get notebook check in order and study for the test! (see the general notes on the Early Modern Era to help with you CCOT essay preparation)

Journal: Write a Haiku about AP World History
Objective: Explain the succession of Japanese rulers after the era of warring states.
Classwork: Work with groups to complete the running timeline, then watch clips of "Japan: Memoirs of a Secret Empire" (Found on Netflix if you were absent).

Homework: Finish the ACTUAL and RUNNING timelines (1 per group) and complete your Unit packet in its entirety. Test in 2 times!

Journal: Compare and contrast European and Chinese means and motives for exploration.
Objective: Explain the Indian Ocean trade and describe China during the Ming and Qing dynasties; review Chinese history

Classwork: China notes with powerpoint, China running timeline (hooray! 2nd's time to beat is 2:32), Chinese history timeline review, and group work on running timelines.

If you missed class, you are making your own historical timeline AND running timeline for a specific region of the world (absent people, your region is the Americas.)

Homework: With your groups, make sure you've completed the 35 term list of events. Also, read about Japan!

Journal: Where would you have preferred to live in 1650: Spain, England, France, Germany, Austria, or Russia? Why? Explain.
Objective: Describe major players and events during the absolutist age in Europe
Classwork: We reviewed our "Columbian Exchange Activity" worksheet and finished answering the questions (make sure you have this completed and understand it), then worked on our group skits, then the groups presented.

Homework: Read about China!

Journal: Write down the "steps" to writing a great CCOT essay (you may look at your notes as needs be).
Objective: Recognize changes and continuities in the Americas between 1450 and 1750.
Classwork: Go over steps to writing a good CCOT essay, then write the essay, then finish your individual component of the Columbian Exchange research activity (for those of you not in class or who did not finish, the research pages are found under the 1450-1750 page of the blog).

Lastly, we got into groups to prepare for your super-awesome skit you'll present on in class next time. Here are the 2nd period skit assignments:

Be sure to read your sections (in addition to your regular reading assignment) and be prepared with props or other things you'll want to enhance your skit for next time.

Welcome back! We took the Midterm exam before the break and you should have completed your Christmas assignment during the break (2 movies and an essay). Bring this with you to class the first day back! If you did NOT pass the midterm exam with at least a 135/200 then you MUST retake the exam on Thursday during lunch or afterschool or Friday during lunch. If you did not fail, but want to retake it, you may do so.

Journal: If you had to take the AP exam tomorrow, how would you do? What areas do you need to prepare the most? Why?

Classwork: Christmas assignment share, then watch Part 3 of Islam Empire of Faith: The Ottomans (available on youtube).
